Did I mention??

Did I mention??

A couple more items… So on the first day of the build, they backed the trailer into my small retaining wall and shoved some of the bricks out of place. I sent pictures the next day and was told they were insured and would take care of it. I’ve talked to the office several times since then and nary a word about the bricks. They’ll fix it, believe you me! When the guys left today, they didn’t knock on my…

Slow progress

Slow progress

Are you kidding me?? Slowly they build, step by step, inch by inch. I was told it would take one to two days maximum to get the shed built. Between a sore back, rain delays, broken down vehicles and family emergencies it has taken 7 days already with still more to do. Today’s progress They put on the metal roof, the outside corners and the transom windows in the back. They were two transom windows short because there are supposed…

A beautiful day

A beautiful day

A good day to get your hands dirty The shed company wasn’t able to complete it on Friday, so I have to wait for Monday to have it buttoned up. I decided that I would do some planting this weekend instead! The other day I transplanted a beautiful Norwegian pine that was a gift from my friend Denise Donlon. Since it would ultimately grow as large as my backyard, we decided that I would care for it for the next…

Tired of waiting

Tired of waiting

Electrician is here, shed builders are not So, the shed builders who were supposed to finish up yesterday texted that they would be here in the afternoon rather the morning. They then texted in the afternoon claiming a vehicle issue prevented them from coming over until today around 9:30 am. It’s now after 1:00 pm and I haven’t heard from them yet. No response to my text asking for an ETA. Becoming disenchanted with #tuffshed. The electrician came yesterday for…

First morning

First morning

Enjoying the view already So this is the first morning getting a chance, after the storm that rolled in, to see my Cozy Sanctuary in the yard. I love looking out at it and it’s not even complete yet! The shed builders are coming back today to put on the metal roof, skirting, windows and the door. The electrician will be stopping by to run the wiring and put in the outlets. After that, all the works falls on me…

Family and a friend arrive

Family and a friend arrive

Everything is better with family and friends My niece Rachel and her daughter Lilith came by to help me with some things in the house and watch the shed go up. A while later, my friend and inspiration Denise showed up to snap some photos. Love these guys!

Walls going up

Walls going up

Getting closer The walls went up pretty quickly. As I suspected, only two walls went up before they had to put the daybed in there. It’s massive for a single daybed and will take up most of the back wall. Had to have space for all of the pillows I have going in there. Comfort was my number one goal.

Building day!

Building day!

The backyard is a mess with wood and insulation First things first, the metal floor joists go in. After that, they put in the insulation…thanks guys! I doubled up on the foam core insulation for an R-value of 20. The last thing to go in before the walls is a wood floor. Not pretty, but I’m installing pine tongue in groove flooring over it. It’s going to be cozy in here during the winter!

Rain delay

Rain delay

Delay due to backache and then rain Yesterday I received a call from the guy putting in the floor joists. His back was out and he couldn’t make it. That’s ok, it just meant that the builders had to put in the insulation instead. Saved me some labor! This morning the builders showed up and it was sprinkling. Well, that turned into a heavier rain. They sat in the driveway for an hour plus before they could start the job….

Interior materials have arrived

Interior materials have arrived

Insulation, pine flooring and shiplap…oh My! The interior materials have arrived. In other words, I have a lot of work ahead of me this week. Doesn’t look like it would all fit in the shed, much less leave room for anything else!
